Eligibility Criteria for State Bank of India - Central Recruitment:

  • i) As on 01 / 11 / 2007, the candidate should be an Agri Graduate from a recognized University with Minimum 70% Marksi (65% for SC. St and PH. Candidates) OR Graduates in the following streams - BBAs, MBAs, Social Welfare, graduates with specialization in marketing with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC / ST and PH candidates) Agri graduates will be given preference over graduates in other discipl
  • As on 01 / 11 / 2007, the candidate should be minimum of 21 years age and maximum 30 years (Relaxation in upper age limit to reserved category candidates as per Govt, guidelines).
  • Candidate must have fluency (read, write and speak) in the local language of the State where he is likely to be posted.
  • Candidate must possess a valid permanent driving license for 2-wheelers.
  • Candidate should be willing to work in rural areas fora contractual period of 2 years and should also be ready to join the job at a short notice. Work involves extensive travelling.

General Instructions

1) Nature of appointment:

a) All the above appointments would be purely of contractual nature terminable on one month's notice or one month's proportionate amount of compensation in lieu of notice during 1st year of contract and 3 months notice or three months proportionate amount of compensation in lieu of notice after 1 year by either side i.e. Bank or the appointee,. Initially the contract would be of 2 years duration subject to renewal for further period at the discretion of the Bank,

b) the contract appointee would have no right to get permanently absorbed in the Bank. This would be essential condition of contract appointment,

c) The candidates selected for the appointment would be required to serve in rural areas during their contract period and no request for posting in other areas than rural areas shall be entertained.

2) Work experience & Preference :

a) Due weightage will be given to candidates who possess current experience in the field of specialization and possess higher qualification,

b) Candidates with strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, team playing and presentation skills will be preferred.

3) Other conditions:

i) The positions available in various States and Union Territories are detailed above

  • Management reserves the right to cancel candidature of any candidate without assigning any reason. Merely meeting the above qualifications and experience shall not entitle a candidate to be called for interview or selected. Only short-listed candidates will be called for interview,
  • Shortlisting will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Graduation / Post graduation, category-wise, discipline- wise, for each Circle of SBI as also professional experiences, if any. The Bank's decision in this regard will be final.

4) Relaxation In Upper Age Limit

  • SC / ST candidates By 5 years
  • OBC candidates by 3 years
  • Ex-Service men, Commissioned Officers including those ECOs / SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years military service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to Be completed within one year from the last date of receipt of application) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or physical disability attributable to military service or on Invalidment. By 3 years plus period of service in Armed Forces
  • Persons domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir By 5 year During the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989. Relaxation in upper age limit avai lable to SC / ST / OBC candidates is allowed on cumul ative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above. The positions entail extensive field work, travel etc.
  • Persons with Disabilities By 15 years - SC / ST By 13 years-OBC By 10years-GEN. Candidates seeking age relaxation are required to submit copies of necessary certificate’s) along with the application.

5) Reservation for Persons With Disabilities

3% of the total number persons are reserved for Disabled (Physically Handicapped) Persons with Disabilities under Section 33 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.

ii. Candidates with following disability are eligible to apply:

Blindness or low vision -Persons who suffer from either of the following conditions:-

a) Total absence of sight;

b) Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with correcting lenses;

c) Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degrees or worse.

Locomotor Disability or Cerebral Palsy - Persons who have a minimum of 40% of physical defect or deformity which causes an interference with the normal functioning of the bones, muscles and joints. Candidates falling in the following categories of the disabled may apply for the post: OA, OL, LV. OA- One arm affected (Right or Left), OL- One leg affected (Right or Left). LV- Low vision

Persons with Disabilities

Fee + postage is payable by a single Demand Draft / Banker's Cheque (as applicable) only, having validity of minimum 6 months, favouring 'STATE BANK OF INDIA. The draft should be made payable at a branch located at the centre where the local Head of the Bank is located for which you are applying. Cash, cheques, money orders, postal orders, etc. will NOT be accepted. Fee / Postage once paid will NOT be refunded on any account nor can it be held in reserve for any other examination or selection. Candidate's name, post applied for and dale of birth should be written on the reverse of the Demand Draft I Banker's Cheque.

7) How To Apply: Application should be neatly typed or handwritten in English or Hindi on a foolscap size paper in the format given at the end of this advertisement. A recent passport size photograph bearing full signature of the candidate across the same with date should be pasted at right hand top corner at the space provided in the application. It should also be accompanied by Demand Draft / Banker's cheque (Candidate's name, post applied for and date of birth should be written on the reverse of Demand Draft / Banker's cheque) and attested copies of certificates / testimonials / medical certificate. In order to ensure that the applications and remittances reach well before the closing date, candidates serving in Govt / Ouasi Govt, offices, Public Sector undertakings including Nationalised Banks and Financial Institutions are advised to submit their original application form along with the remittance in advance and submit No Objection Certificate from the employer at the time of interview, failing which their candidature may not be considered and travelling expenses, if any, otherwise admissible, will not be paid.

Enclosures to the application:

a) School Leaving Certificate or any other documentary proof of age, or where applicable, copy of Discharge Certificate / Retirement, Pension Order and documentary proof of Rank last held,

b) Caste certificate issued by Competent Authority prescribed by the Government Of India in case of SC / ST candidates,

c) Candidates belonging to OBCs but coming in the 'Creamy Layer' are not entitled to OBC reservation. They should indicate their category as 'GEN' or 'Gen PH' as applicable. OBC certificates in the format as prescribed by Government of India and issued by the competent authority inter alia specifically stating that the candidate does not belong to the socially advanced sections excluded from the benefits of reservations for OBCs in civil posts and services under the Government of India i.e. carrying 'Creamy Layer' clause, based on the income for financial year 2006-2007, issued on or after 1/4/2007, should be submitted,

d) PH candidates claiming benefit of reservation / age relaxation should submit a copy of Medical certificate as specified in the Disabilities Act of 1995 in support of their disability,

e) Mark sheets and Certificates in support of Educational Qualifications, e.g. Degree, Post-graduation, Professional Qualifications etc. (as the case may be) and

f) Experience Certificate (s), if any, specifying NATURE & PERIOD of experience should be enclosed.

Prescribed fee and attested copies of caste / community certificates, where applicable, MUST accompany the application. The candidates will have to produce their original caste certificate / relevant certificates before the interview takes place, failing which his / her candidature shall be cancelled and he / she will not be admitted for interview.

8) Last Date for Receipt of Application: Applications complete in all respects should reach the address given in the chart on or before 10.11.07. For candidates residing abroad or in Andaman, Nicobar, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland,Thpura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of J&K State, Lahaul and Spiti districts and Pangi sub-divisions of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, applications will be accepted upto 17.11.2007.

9) Action against Candidates Found Guilty Of Misconduct

Candidates are warned that they should not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered, fabricated or should not suppress any material information while filling up the application form.

At the time of interview, if a candidate is (or has been) found guilty of:

  • Impersonating or procuring impersonation by any person
  • Resorting to any irregular or improper means in connection with his / her candidature for selection or
  • obtaining support for his / her candidature by any means, such a candidate may in addition to rendering himself / herself liable to criminal prosecution be liable to be debarred, either permanently or for a specified period, from any examination or recruitment conducted by the Central Recruitment & Promotion Dept. State Bank of India, Corporate Centre, Mumbai.
