IIT Kharagpur has set up a Steel Technology Centre with the main objectives of promoting Teaching; R&D, Consultancy and Continuing Education in the area of Iron & Steel.

The Steel Technology Centre would lay emphasis on development on trained manpower and teaching / training of students through B.Tech., M.Tech.. Ph.D. and Post Doctoral Research work.

The Centre would aim to attract bright students to lron & Steel through existing and challenging research work and by providing a stimulating research environment.

Name of the Post: Chair Professor - 01 Post.

The appointment of Chair Professor will be on contract up to a period of 5 years for Steel Technology Centre.

Scale of Pay : Rs.18,400-500-22,400/- plus allowances as admissible to Central Government employees.

Qualifications

Essential : Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree preferably in Metallurgical Engineering.

Desirable :

1. Having experience in Industry and Academic Interaction / Joint Research Projects with Industry and Academic Institution.
2. Published research work of good quality in Journals of repute.

Specialization : In the areas of Raw Materials, Ironmaking, Steelmaking and Casting, Fabrication, Product development, Application, Automation and Control, Modeling and Simulation, Environmental Issues.

At least 10 years Teaching / Research / Industrial experience of which 5 years should be at the level of Assistant / Associate Professor or equivalent

Academic reimbursements and other incentives :

1. Full funding for attending national conferences either for presenting a paper or chairing a session as per Institute guidelines.
2. Financial assistance up to Rs.1.00 lakh once in 3 years for attending International conferences for presenting a paper or chairing a session as per Institute guidelines.
3. Reimbursement of 75% of membership fee of one international professional society every year.
4. Reimbursement of telephone charges up to Rs.750 per month. Accommodation will be provided on the campus subject to availability. Interested candidates, may apply enclosing
