IIT Kharagpur, an Institute of national importance, is the first and the largest amongst the chain of seven IITs engaged in teaching, research and development requires high quality manpower meeting the global needs. Indian nationals desire to serve the Institute may apply for the following posts.

1. Librarian: (Seale of Pay of Rs. 16400-450-20900-500-22400/-)-1 post (UR)

Qualification & Experience: Master's degree in Library Science /Information Science/Documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point scale and consistently good academic record. Minimum of 18 years of post qualification experience in reputed Libraries as College Librarian/ Assistant Librarian or equivalent or at least 13 years experience as Deputy Librarian or equivalent in a reputed Institution or University.

Desirable: M.Phil/Ph.D.degree in Library Science/Information Science/ Documentation/Archives and Manuscript keeping, Computerization of Library. Appointment will be made on contract for a period of 3 to 5 years.

2. Deputy Registrar: (Scale of Pay of Rs. 12000-420-18300/-)- 2 posts (10BC&1UR)

Qualification & Experience: A postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade with specialization in Finance/Human Resources/Systems/ Administration OR ICWA/CA /MBA. At least 8 years experience as Assistant Registrar or an equivalent post in IITs/University System/Research Institute/ Central Government Departments in the scale of Rs. 8,000-275-13,500/-.

Desirable: Experience/Exposure to computer based Accounting/Audit/ Administration will be preferred.

1 post is against lien vacancy and likely to continue.

3. Assistant Registrar (Scale of Pay of Rs. 8000-275-13500/-)- 2 posts (10BC&1ST)

Qualification & Experience: A postgraduate degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade. Minimum 8 years of administrative experience out of which 5 years should be in a supervisory capacity.

Desirable: Experience in Computer System & Applications, Office Automation.

4. Hindi Officer: (Scale of Pay of Rs. 6500-200-10500/-)* 1 post (UR)

Qualification & Experience:

(i) Master's degree in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a subject as degree level;

(ii) Adequate grounding in Sanskrit;

(iii) 5 year's experience in the scale of Rs. 5,500-175-9,000/- in a Government/Semi-Government or Commercial Organization in terminological work in,Hindi including translation of Scientific Reports etc. from English to Hindi.

Desirable: (a) Experience in Journalism and aptitude for public relations work; (b) Knowledge of any other Modern Indian Language.

The qualification and experience prescribed are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. The Institute reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for interview after shortlisting with reference to candidate's qualifications, suitability, experience, etc. However, the experience criteria may be relaxed for exceptionally meritorious candidates.

A relaxation of 5% will be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks, at the Master's level for the SC/ST category.
