I.I.T. Punjab, Roopnagar (Punjab) invites applications from qualified Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) with an established record of independent, high quality research and commitment to teaching and research for the following regular positions in various Disciplines/Departments:-

Disciplines

Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Humanities and Social Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor: Ph. D. with first class or equivalent grade at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout.

An outstanding Engineer/Technologist working in industry with established reputation and who has made significant contribution to knowledge but not having a Ph.D. degree could also be considered in truly exceptional cases in some areas.

Professor: Minimum 10 years of Teaching/Research/Industrial experience of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor/Assistant Professor or equivalent.

Associate Professor: Minimum 8 years of Teaching/ Research/ Industrial experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.

Assistant Professor: At least three years of Teaching/ Research/ Industrial experience.

Notes:

• Separate applications must be submitted, if a candidate is applying for a faculty position in more than one department.
• 3% of the vacancies are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), as per GOI Rules.
• For the post of Assistant Professor, a candidate should preferably be below 35 years of age.
• The minimum qualifications and/or experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally outstanding candidates.
• Mere fulfillment of qualifications and experience requirements does not entitle a candidate to be called for an interview/discussion.
• The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill the post(s) advertised.
• No correspondence whatsoever will be entertained from the candidates regarding postal delays, conduct and result of interview and reasons for not being called for interview or selection.
• The interviews will be held in IIT Delhi Campus.
• The candidates called for interview will be paid IInd A/C train fare from the place of their residence to Delhi and back by the shortest route.
• The posts carry allowances such as DP, DA, CCA, HRA as per the rules of the Institute which at present correspond to those admissible to Central Government employees. These are likely to be revised.
• Depending upon the qualification and experience, higher start/salary may be offered in deserving cases.

The last date for receipt of applications for the post of Professor and Associate Professor is 07.11.2008. However, for the post of Assistant Professor, while prospective candidates can apply anytime throughout the year, applications received by 07.11.2008 will be processed for recruitment immediately.
