| First class B.E./ B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or recognized equivalent qualification OR M.Tech. / M.E. in Structural Engineering or recognized equivalent qualification OR Ph.D. in Structural Engineering. | Candidates having knowledge of advanced structural analysis and design familiarity with computer programming; use of software(s) and experimental techniques for structural engineering applications will be preferred. The candidates selected would be required to work in any of the following R & D areas: | Experimental investigations and testing of structures both in Laboratory and field, Development and evaluation of High Performance Construction Materials, Prestressed and Reinforced concrete structures, Structural Dynamics including Earthquake Engineering, Steel Structures, Wind Engineering, Fatigue testing, Computational Structural Mechanics, Bridge Engineering. |
In The Case Of Posts Reserved For Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribes And Other Backward Classes Candidates, A Lower Standard Of Suitably Consistent With Efficiency In Administration Will Be Applied.
Relaxation in age limit upto 5 years may be allowed to Council/ Government / Autonomous Bodies/ Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time in this regard. Relaxation in case of Ex – servicemen, Physically Handicapped etc. will also be applicable as per provisions.
Relaxation in the qualification and/ or experience prescribed may be allowed at the discretion of the DG, CSIR in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes against posts reserved in favour of SC/ ST / OBC communities.
Relaxation in age, qualification and/ or experience may be permitted by DG, CSIR if sufficient number of candidates possessing the requisite qualification and/ or experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts.
The number of vacancies specified is provisional and may vary at the time of selection. If more vacancies with identical job requirement become available at the time of selection, these may also be filled from among the candidates who apply in response to this advertisement.
The posts are temporary but likely to continue. Besides pay, these posts carry usual allowances as admissible under the Central Government rules. Higher initial pay can be considered for exceptionally meritorious candidates. The total emoluments at the minimum of the scale for the posts at present is Rs. 20180/- (including House Rent Allowance as applicable for the city of Chennai.)
The service under CSIR/SERC is governed by the New Defined Contribution Pension Scheme of Government of India as made applicable with effect from 1st January 2004. Further, benefits such as Leave Travel Concession, Reimbursement of Medical Expenses, Conveyance Advance and Housing loans are also available in accordance with Govt. of India/ CSIR rules in force.
Application forms can be downloaded from SERC website www.sercm.org (click on “HRD – Recruitment“ from the Home Page) or can be obtained (free of cost) from the Controller Of Administration, Structural Engineering Research Center, CSIR Campus, Post Bag No. 8287, TTTI Taramani P.O., Chennai 600 113, upto 21.12.2006. Advertisement Number, Name of the Post applied for and full address in Block Letters must be indicated at the top of the request which should be sent together with self – addressed and duly stamped envelope [Rs. 10.00] of size 22cm x 10cm. The last date for receipt of completed applications is 10.01.2007 and it will be the cut off date for determining the age, qualifications and experience of a candidate. Applications should be supported by attested copies of the certificates/ testimonials relating to educational qualifications (including mark statements) date of birth, and experience and community certificate in respect of SC/ ST/ OBC candidates issued by the appropriate authority. Candidate should submit with each filled up application a Crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 100/- drawn in favour of I.R.F, SERC payable at Chennai towards application fee. No fee for SC/ST candidates.
Applications from employees working in Government Departments, Public Sector Organizations and Government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded proper channel with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of receipt of the appointment orders. Applying for the position advertised herein does not by itself automatically entitle an applicant to be called for test/ interview. Since it is not possible to call all the candidates for test/ interview, applications will be shortlisted for the purpose and the decision of Director, SERC shall be final in this regard.
