Applications are invited to fill up 01 post of Professor in the Department of Anatomy in the pay scale of Rs.18,600-500-22,100+ NPA in Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh, as per the method of recruitment notified in the Recruitment Rules i.e. by way of Promotion/Deputation (including short-term contract) basis, through Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi.

The officers applying for the above said post should possess the following educational, other qualifications and experience: -

(A) Professor (Anatomy)

I. Officers of the Central / State Governments / Union Territories / Statutory Bodies/ Autonomous Organizations / Research Institutions: -

(a) (i) holding analogous posts on regular basis; or

(ii) with two year's regular service in posts in the scale of pay of Rs. 16400-20000/- or equivalent; and

(b) Possessing the educational and other qualifications prescribed for direct recruits as indicated below.

II. The Departmental Officer (GMCH Cadre) in the grade of Reader with two year's regular service in the grade will also be considered alongwith outsiders and In case he/ she is selected for appointment to the post, the same shall be deemed to have been filled by promotion.

The Departmental Officer (GMCH Cadre) in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation. Similarly, deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion.

(Period of deputation/ contract including period of deputation / contract in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization / department of the Central Government, shall ordinarily not exceed five year's.

The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation (including short-term contract) shall be not exceeding fifty six year's as on 01.01.2008.

Essential Qualifications:

Professor (Anatomy)

I-A (i) A basic University or equivalent qualification included in any one of the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and must be registered in a State Medical Register or Indian Medical Register;

A (ii) M.S. (Anatomy)/ M.D. (Anatomy)/M.B.B.S. with M. Sc. (Anatomy) from a recognized University/ Institution or equivalent.

B(i) M. Sc. (Medical Anatomy) from a recognized University or equivalent.

B(ii) Ph.D. (Medical Anatomy)/D.Sc. (Medical Anatomy) from a recognized University/ Institution or equivalent.

II Ten year's experience in the profession after acquiring postgraduate qualification, out of which four year's should be as Reader/ Associate Professor in a Recognized Medical College/ Teaching Institution.

Desirable -

Minimum four Research Publications indexed in Index Medicus / National Journals and one Research Publication in International Journals.

Note:

The post of Professor is to be designated as Head of Department, therefore, only teachers with recognized basis

University Medical Degree Qualification or equivalent Qualification shall be appointed to the post.

Note 1: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Note 2: The qualification(s) regarding experience is/ are relaxable at the discretion of Union Public Service Commission in the case of candidate belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes.

If at any stage of selection, the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.

Age Limit: For appointment by Deputation (including Short-term Contract) not exceeding 56 years as on 01.01.2008

The eligible officers should apply for the aforesaid post and also forward their applications through their respective departments. While forwarding the applications of the eligible officers, the concerned department should furnish the following certificates alongwith the application/bio-data of the officer so recommended: -

  • ACR dossiers (in original) I.e. upto 31.03.2007.
  • Integrity Certificate.
  • Vigilance Clearance indicating that no disciplinary proceedings or criminal proceedings are either pending or contemplated against the Officer concerned
  • No court case is pending against the officer concerned ; and
  • Statement of major/ minor penalties, if any, imposed upon the officer during last 10 years or a no penalty Certificate, as the case may be.

Applications, duly completed in all respects, should reach the Director Medical Education & Research, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32-B, Chandigarh within two months from the date of publication in the ‘Employment News’.
