Applications are invited up to Thursday, 27 November 2008 for a Post of Scientist 'D' (Assistant Director) at Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR), Belgaum in the Revised pay band + Grade. Pay PB3 15600-39100+7600 plus allowances and other service benefits as per the Central Goverment, rules.

Qualification & Experience:

Essential:

1. I class Master's degree in Microbiology/ Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Life Sciences /Veterinary Sciences, or relevant biological discipline or II class Master's degree in the relevant subject with PhD from a recognized University
2. 8 years research experience in the related field as evidenced by scientific publications in reputed journals.

Desirable:

1. Additional Postdoctoral research/teaching experience in the relevant subject.
2. Experience in the field of Molecular Biology / Plant
3. Knowledge of computer applications

Job Requirements:

1. To plan and execute research projects in the field of molecular biology. Candidate should be capable of independently formulate research program with an emphasis on developing strong interdisciplinary research components through extra mural funding,
2. To organize / assist / coordinate human resource development programs of the Centre,
3. To assist Director in administrative matters relating to research, training and general activities of the Centre.

Age: Not exceeding 45 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for government servants in accordance with the instructions issued by the department of personnel and training from time to time in this regard.

Benefits of new restructured defined Contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of economic affairs (ECB & PR Division).

Application forms duly completed in all respects should be sent on the same address on or before the last date along with a crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs.100/-(Rupees Hundred only) payable to the Officer-in-Charge, RMRC, Belgaum (SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates are exempted from this payment).

Incomplete/late applications or without adequate postal orders will not be entertained. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidate or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/ recruitment shall be a disqualification.

Note:

1. The prescribed age may be relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates.
2. Ph.D degree in subjects relevant to ICMR shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.
3. As it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/ personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose.
4. In the event of non-availability of suitable candidate for the advertised post, the position can be filled up at lower level.
