Applications are invited upto 20-08-2007 for the post of Research Officer (Medical) (reserved for OBC candidates) in the scale of pay of Rs.8000-275-13500 at the National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential: M.B.B.S from a recognized University
Desirable: 3 years research/ teaching experience in Epidemiology or Social and preventive Medicine OR Ph.D / MD in Community Medicine
Job requirement: The incumbent is required to plan, carry out analysis, report epidemiological research studies and control strategies in communicable and non-communicable diseases. He/She will also be a faculty member in various training courses in Epidemiology conducted by the Institute
Age: Below 45 years. Relaxable by 3 years for OBC candidates. Departmental candidates are allowed relaxation in accordance with the Central Govt. Rules, in force.
Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale. Benefits of new restructured defined Contributory Pension System as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB, PR Division), Notification No. 5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22-12-2003 effective 1-1-2004.
Private practice is not allowed, however, non practicing allowance is admissible to medical graduates only as per rules. Candidates called for interview will be paid a second class rail fare by the shortest route on production of documents.

Forms duly completed in all respects should be sent to the above address along with the attested copies of certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualification, experience, etc. on or before the last date along with a crossed Indian Postal Order for Rs.25/- (Rupees Twenty five only) drawn in favour of the Director, NIE, Chennai. Departmental candidates are exempted from this payment. Incomplete and late applications or those without postal orders will not be entertained. The post is liable for transfer anywhere in India under ICMR.
