The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) is an Institute of national importance by an Act of Parliament under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India.
The institute is at S.A.S. Nagar, Punjab adjoining Chandigarh the City Beautiful.
The main thrust areas of research is Tuberculosis, Malaria, Leishmaniasis and Diabetes.
The Institute has excellent facilities for advanced education and research in pharmaceutical sciences and technology and is looking for faculty of high caliber and potential, willing to face the challenge of building this Institute into a center of excellence.
The focus is on master's, doctoral and postdoctoral programs.
Three openings are for the post of Assistant Professors in any of the following Departments, in the Pay Band PB - 3 of Rs. 15600 - 39100 + Grade Pay of Rs. 7600/-.
1. Medicinal Chemistry: Strong background in design and synthesis of new organic molecules for various therapeutic areas that will interact with the novel molecular targets / biological systems Exposure to computer aided design and / or combinatorial chemistry is desirable.
2. Natural Products:
Good background in plant molecular biology with experience and understanding of biomarkersforthe identification of herbal medicines, DNA fingerprinting of medicinal plants / development of bioassays based on molecular mechanisms.
Sound background in Ayurveda and clinical experience to undertake rational evaluations of traditional medicines particularly ayurvedic medicines with orientation to abridge knowledge of conventional system of medicine for teaching.
3. Pharmaceutical Analysis:
Strong background in analytical techniques employed for APIs and Pharmaceutical formulations using modern chromatography and spectroscopic techniques, application of HPLC, LC / MS and mass fragmentation analysis, development and validation of new analytical methods; to support research activity.
Experience in preparation of reference standard samples, structure education and establishing impurity profiles of bulkdrug substances is desirable.
Alternatively, experience in management of Quality Assurance Functions in industry. Familiarity with GMP, GLP, ICH and FDA regulations.
4. Pharmacology & Toxicology:
Exposure to regulatory toxicology / histopathology and experience in interpretation of data from laboratory animal studies.
Pharmacological screening and / or bioavailability and bioequivalence.
5. Pharmaceutical Technology:
Pharmaceutical Technology (Biotechnology): Good background in molecular biology, biochemical engineering/down stream processing with work experience in recombinant technology.
Formulation: Sound knowledge of concepts of physical pharmacy, preformulation and formulation development.
Experience in the area of development manufacturing and / or analysis of conventional novel dosage forms.
Bulk Drugs: Strong background in design and synthesis of new organic molecules for various therapeutics areas.
The candidate should be conversant with scale up concepts of organic synthesis.
6. Pharmaceutics:
Strong base in physical characterization of pharmaceuticals, pre-formulation and dosage form design using newer concepts Deep understanding of drug delivery technologies for delivering 'difficult-to-deliver' drugi, would be an added advantage.
Candidates having industrial experience will be preferred.
Experience in bioavailability/bioequivalence and pharmacokinetics.
7. Pharmacy Practice:
Candidates should have wide experience in teaching, work experience in the areas in clinical and hospital pharmacy, and be able to contribute to the development of a strong center in teaching and research in Pharmacy practice.
8. Pharmaceutical Management:
Candidates should have a basic degree in engineering / pharmacy with post-graduate degree in management and experience of applying various management principles in pharmaceutical industry.
Basic degree in science with PG degree in Personnel Finance, Human Resource Management from a reputed management institute.
Essential Qualifications & Experience: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and three years of industrial / teaching experience.
Other amenities / allowances: Besides salary, the appointees will be eligible to all other allowances as per Central Government Rules.
The Institute encourages the faculty members to undertake consultancy work or work on sponsored projects.
All appointments are contractual in nature for a period of five (05) years which can be renewed depending upon performance and mutual consent.
However, except for the consequences of being on contract, the position filled on contract shall accrue all the benefits of permanency. Retirement age is 62 years. Mere fulfillment of laid down qualifications and experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview.
