Applications are invited upto 12th August, 2009 to fill up the vacant post of Scientist 'D'and Scientist 'C' at Regional Medical Research Centre (Indian Council of Medical Research), Port Blair as detailed below:
Name of the Post: Scientist 'D'
Pay Scale: Pay Band-3 of Rs.15600-39100 (Grade Pay Rs.7600/-)
Qualification & Experience Essential:
MBBS Degree recognized by MCI or First Class Master's Degree in Life/ Biological Sciences from a recognized University. Or Second Class Master's Degree in relevant subjects with Ph.D Degree from a recognized University.
Eight years research experience in the field of Leptospirosis. Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Malaria, Diarrhoeal Diseases and Vector Borne Diseases.
Desirable:
Ph.D. in the relevant field or MD in Microbiology / Pathology / General Medicine / Pediatrics.
Additional Post doctoral research/ teaching experience in relevant fields, as mentioned above, including Genomics and Proteomics.
Knowledge of Computer Application.
Note
The candidates, who have already applied for the post of Scientist 'D' in response to our earlier advertisement (the last date for which was 30th January, 2009) are required to apply afresh. However, they need not to submit the IPO for Rs.100/-.
Job Requirement: To develop programmes for training and research, plan and undertake research on different aspects of communicable diseases, tribal health and to assist the Director and other scientists in conducting research in thrust areas and any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Centre.
Age: Not exceeding 45 years. Relaxable upto 5 years for Government servants in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personal and Training from time to time in this regard.

Pay Scale: Pay Band-3 of Rs.15600-39100 (Grade Pay of Rs.6600/-)
Qualification & Experience Essential:
MBBS Degree recognized by MCI or First Class Master's Degree in Microbiology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Medical Lab Technology / Bioinformatics / Entomology / Anthropology (Social/Physical) or equivalent. Or Second Class Master's Degree in relevant subjects with Ph.D Degree from a recognized University.
Four years research experience in the field of Leptospirosis, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Malaria, Diarrhoeal Diseases and Vector Borne Diseases.
Desirable:
Ph.D. in the relevant field or MD in Microbiology/Pathology/General Medicine / Pediatrics.

Private practice is not allowed. However, Non Practicing Allowance is admissible to medical graduates only, as per rules of the Council. He/She will be governed by the new restructured defined Contributory Pension System as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification NO.5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22/12/2003 effective from 01/01/2004.

Application forms duly completed in all respects may be sent on the same address on or before the last date along with a crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs.100/- payable to the Director General, ICMR, New Delhi on or before the due date.
SC/ST and Council's employees are exempted from this payment. Incomplete/late applications or those without postal orders will not be entertained. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidate or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection / recruitment shall be a disqualification.
Note: Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard.
