The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) is a Comprehensive Cancer Centre with a mission to offer the highest standards in patient care, cancer prevention, cancer research, medical education in oncology and allied disciplines.

TMC is an autonomous Grant-in-Aid Institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India and affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) and Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI).

The HBNI is a recently established Deemed University of Department of Atomic Energy with a mission to develop high quality post-graduate educational programs in science and technology including health sciences.

TMC is expanding all its mission activities and invites applications from Professionals of Indian Nationality, who after an excellent postgraduate training are keen to pursue a career in Academic Medicine related to Oncology.

Full time faculty positions at Assistant and Professor Levels are available at the TMC are listed below :

Essential Qualifications and Experience

1. Head, Department of Pathology

M.D. (Pathology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 18 years teaching experience in the specialty in a recognized teaching hospital of which atleast 4 years must be as Professor.

This position requires proven track record of leadership qualities to develop frontline service and research areas in clinical, surgical and molecular pathology.

The candidate will also be responsible for planning, co-ordinating and accreditation of the new laboratories in Tata Memorial Hospital and ACTREC and provide leadership for the post graduate teaching and transitional research programs at TMC.

2. Assistant Professor Surgical Oncology (Breast Service)

M.Ch. (Surgical Oncology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India. One year experience in site specific (Breast) Oncology is desirable.

3. Assistant Professor Head & Neck Oncology

M.Ch../D.N.B. (Head and Neck Oncology), OR M.S. (General Surgery)/ M.S. (ENT)/ equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years experience as senior resident or equivalent post in Head and Neck Oncology in a recognized teaching hospital after the postgraduate degree.

Experience in Endoscopic and Laser Surgery is desirable.

4. Assistant Professor Medical Oncology (Adult)

D.M. (Medical Oncology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India.

5. Assistant Professor Medical Oncology (Pediatric Oncology)

D.M. (Medical Oncology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India. M.D. pediatrics and one year exclusive experience in the specialty (Pediatric Oncology) is desirable.

6. Assistant Professor Radiation Oncology

M.D. degree in Radiation Oncology or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 3 years postgraduate experience in a MCI recognized teaching hospital or cancer centre. Candidates must be well versed with Brachytherapy techniques, advanced 3D conformal treatment planning techniques and IMRT.

7. Assistant Professor General Medicine

M.D. (General Medicine) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years experience in the specialty after postgraduate qualification. One year exclusive experience in Infectious Disease / or Geriatric Medicine is desirable. Selected candidate will work in an interdisciplinary program to provide comprehensive General Medicine Care to Cancer patients and General Medicine Care at the Staff Clinic.

8. Assistant Professor Intensive Care Medicine

M.D. degree in General Medicine, Chest Medicine or Anesthesiology or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years experience in an Intensive care of a large hospital or cancer centre after post graduation. Diploma or Certified Training in Intensive Care is desirable. Candidates must be well versed with all the ICU related procedures including cardiac pacing, portable ECHO cardiography and renal replacement therapies.

9. Assistant Physician Palliative Care Medicine

M.D. or M.S. in any Clinical Branch or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 3 years postgraduate experience in Palliative care in a large hospital or cancer centre. A Post Graduate Diploma or Certified Training in Palliative Medicine is desirable. Candidates with one year experience in the subject after M.D./M.S. may apply and will be considered for appointment in a lower Grade (Grade-D).

10. Assistant Professor Transfusion Medicine

M.D. (Transfusion Medicine) / M.D.(Immuno-haematology and Blood Transfusion) / M.D. (Pathology) with Diploma in Transfusion Medicine or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years experience after post graduation in a FDA approved Blood Bank of a teaching institution recognized by MCI OR M.D. (Pathology) recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 5 years experience after post graduation in a FDA approved Blood Bank of a teaching institution recognized by MCI.

11. Assistant Professor Pathology (Onco-Pathology)

M.D. (Pathology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 3 years experience after post graduation in pathology in a teaching institution recognized by MCI. Expertise in Onco-pathology, cytology and molecular pathology is desirable.

12. Assistant Professor Haemato-pathology

M.D. (Pathology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 3 years experience after post graduation in sub-specialty of Haemato-pathology. A PG diploma in Haemato-pathology or certified training in the field from a large teaching hospital is desirable. Responsibilities will include overall operation, quality assurance and supervision of a modern Haemato-Pathology- laboratory.

13. Assistant Professor in Clinical Pharmacology

M.D. in Pharmacology or equivalent postgraduate degree with minimum 3 years postgraduate experience in a large hospital or teaching hospital. D.M. in Clinical Pharmacology recognized by MCI or Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Trials is desirable. Candidates must be well versed with pharmacokinetics, GCP, GMP, drug development process including phase-I, II clinical trials and translational research. Candidates must be familiar with FDA, DCGI, DGFT and other regulatory procedures for conducting developmental therapeutic trials in India.

14. Assistant Professor in Nuclear Medicine

M.D. in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 3 years postgraduate experience in a large hospital or teaching hospital. One year exclusive experience in PET scanning and Imaging is desirable. Candidates must be well versed with therapeutic nuclear medicine technologies and other regulatory procedures for developing and conducting diagnostic and therapeutic trials in Nuclear Medicine.

15. Clinical Scientist (Adjunct Assistant Professor)

Postgraduate qualification in any branch of Clinical Medicine directly related to Oncology like M.D (Radiotherapy)/ M.S. (Surgery) / M.D. (Medicine) / M.D. (Pediatrics) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years experience in Clinical Oncology after the PG qualification. A formal qualification such as Ph.D. / Research M.D. after the post graduation is desirable.

This position requires proven track record of leadership qualities in developing frontline molecular and translational research programs at TMC. The candidate will be expected to spend a major part of time in ACTREC campus doing Laboratory / Experimental research and guiding M.Phil. and Ph.D. students.
