For the project entitled ‘Multiparametric Geophysical Observatory’, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, under Mission Mode Project in Seismology, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism is looking for suitable candidates to fill the following posts at Port Blair and Shillong.

Project Scientists: (2 posts at Port Blair and 1 at Shillong)
Scale of Pay: Rs. 8000 – 275 – 13500 plus admissible allowance.
Maximum Age: 35 years on 31st December 2006.

Job Requirements: Field surveys, Data acquisition, processing and interpretation and maintenance of related instruments to achieve project objectives within the time frame of the project.

Essential Qualification: First Class M.Sc. / M.Tech. degree in Geophysics / Applied Geophysics / Physics with atleast 3 years experience in the operation and maintenance of Seismometers and other Geophysics instruments.

Project Assistants: (2 Posts at Port Blair)
Salary: Rs. 7500/- p.m. (consolidated) with a rise of Rs.500/- per year.
Maximum Age: 28 years as on 31 December 2006.

Job Requirements: Field Surveys, Data processing etc. to achieve projected objectives within the time frame of the project.

Essential Qualifications: First or high second class B.Sc. in Physics/ Maths / Electronics / Computer Science.

(1) The posts are purely on temporary basis tenable upto maximum 3 years only. (2) Selected candidates will be posted at Port Blair (Andaman & Nicobar) and Shillong (Meghalaya). However, they can be posted anywhere in India where the Institute has an establishment.
