The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), an autonomous institute under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting set up in the year 1965 and well known name in the field of mass communication teaching, research and consultancy, invites applications from eligible candidates for the post of "Director Jobs" who has vision to take the institute to greater heights.

Tenure of the Post: 3 years. Extendable for another term of 3 years only (Not more than two terms in all) subject to 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.

Scale of Pay: Rs.22, 400-24,500

The Director will be provided a residential bungalow within the campus as per rules of the Institute.

Duties and Responsibilities: Director, IIMC is the academic, professional and administrative head of the Institute. He / she coordinate and exercises general supervision over all research, training, refresher courses, seminars and other activities carried or held under or by the Society. The Director also functions as Member Secretary of the IIMC Society and its Executive Council. He / She further exercise all such powers as may be delegated to him/ her by the Executive Council.

Educational & Other Qualifications Required:

Essential:

  1. A good Master’s Degree
  2. Experience: Minimum 25 years experience in the field of Journalism / film / media
  3. With administrative experience of heading an Academic / Professional Institution / University Department / Organization of national repute. Or
    Officers not below the rank of Additional Secretary in the Government of India or equivalent thereto with experience of managing or making personal contribution in one of the following areas:
    • Writing Stories / Lyrics / Screen Play
    • Editing of Film / TV programmes
    • Production of film / TV Programmes

Desirable:

  1. Post-graduation or Doctoral degree in the field of Film / Journalism / Mass Communication
  2. Weightage will be given for the awards at national and international levels for contributions in the areas mentioned above.
  3. Participation in International Conferences.

Mode of Selection: Through Search-cum-Selection Committee.

The Institute reserves the right not to fill up the vacancy advertised if the circumstances so warrant.

Completed application forms should be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs.200/- drawn in favour of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi payable at New Delhi.

Reimbursement of Travel Expenses: Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid both way fare (economy class) by the shortest route.

Last Date: The last date of receipt of completed applications is 3rd June 2007
