Inflibnet Centre is an autonomous body of the University Grants Commission with its head-quarters at Ahmedabad. The Centre is involved in a variety of activities for the benefit of academic and research community in the country.

Some of the major activities of the Centre include automation and networking of libraries of the universities, creation of national databases, development of library management software to facilitate automation activities in the academic libraries, human resource development, UGC Infonet, digital library consortium etc.

Scientist-B (Library Science) - 1 (One) post.

Job Description:

The incumbent will be a member of the team of Library professionals involved in the areas relating to library automation, creation of database, digital library consortium, providing information service, conducting training programmes for the library professionals, organizing seminar/ workshop/convention etc.

Qualification & Experience:

M.Lib. / M.LI.Sc. or its equivalent from a recognized universities with one year post qualification experience in a regular position.

Upper Age Limit: 35 years plus 3 years age relaxation applicable to OBC category.

Scale of Pay: Rs.8, 000-275-13,500 (At present Gross Rs.20, 480/- per month at the minimum of the scale). The scale of pay and emoluments is likely to be revised upon implementation of 6th Central Pay Commission.

The incumbents of above post will be required to travel extensively, visiting universities in different parts of India for assisting in automation and networking activities, installation of software packages, conducting on-site training to the library professionals and operating staff etc.
