Applications for the Post of Director National Institute for Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) New Delhi
Applications are invited for the post of Director of the National Institute for Plant Genome Research (NIPGR),, New Delhi, an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, from Indian citizens who should be an outstanding Plant Scientist with proven scientific record in the area of plant molecular biology and excellent leadership and managerial qualities.
The candidate should possess:
(i) Essential:
Post Graduate Degree in Modern Biology;
- Doctorate Degree or equivalent in Plant Molecular Biology or related field;
- Outstanding scientific and academic credentials in the area of Plant Molecular Biology;
- Ability to carry out independent research and provide leadership for research in emerging areas of Plant Molecular Biology;
- minimum of 15 years of experience in a responsible position of work in any R&D / Planning / Academic / Scientific Institution / Organisation / Department,
(ii) Desirable :
Three years' experience as the Head of any R&D / Planning/Academic / Scientific institution / Organisation/Department;
Experience of interaction with national international scientific institution/ organization involved in promotion of Plant Molecular research. The mandate of the Institute is to carry out high quality basic and applied research in an end-to-end manner with ultimate objective of developing new knowledge and products of relevance to the country.
The applicant should not be exceeding 55 years of age but age relaxation will be allowed for exceptional cases. The appointment will be on contract basis for a period of five years which will be extendable for a further term, subject to the maximum age limit of 60 years.
The post carries pay scale of Rs.22400-525-24500 and usual allowances as per Govt, of India Rules. However, this scale is in anticipation of upgradation of the post from the scale of Rs.18400-22400 to 22400-24500, for which a proposal is under process and that the process of selection will be initiated only after the proposed upgradation is approved by the competent authority.
