The Indian School of Mines University, established in 1926, which offers B.Tech in Computer Science & Engg, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental, Mechanical, Mineral, Mining, Mining Machinery and Petroleum Engineering, and M.Tech, MSc, MSc Tech, MPhil, MBA and Ph.D programs in the areas of Engineering, Basic & Applied Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, invites applications from Indian nationals including those residing abroad for the following positions in the areas of Management, Basic and Applied Sciences, viz.. Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry. Physics, Geology & Geophysics and various areas of Engineering as mentioned above.

Qualification, Pay Scale and Experience:

1. Professor (Tata Steel Chair)	Ph.D with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch of engineering with a very good academic record throughout, Minimum of 10 years experience of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor / Assistant Professor. An outstanding Engineer / Technologist working in industry with established reputation and who has made significant contribution to knowledge but not having Ph.D degree would also be considered- The incumbent is expected to promote industry-institute interaction and R&D activities and also share the teaching load of the department, For candidates working with any government organization / institution, pay protection will be given as per GOI rules. Areas of Specialisation : Mineral Processing and Coal Beneficiation. Nature of Post: Tenure appointment to be made initially for 2 years; may be extended further in stages upto 70 years. Age Limit: Not exceeding 66 years. Suitable Chair honorarium will also be payable to candidates who have retired from active service. 2. Associate Professor	PhD with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in appropriate branch with a consistently good academic record. Minimum 8 years experience of which at least 3 years at the level of Assistant Professor.	Rs.16400-450-20000	Minimum 30,684/- Maximum 37,380/-
3. Assistant Professor	PhD with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in appropriate branch with a consistently good academic record. Minimum 3 years experience in Teaching / Research / industry.	Rs.12000-420-18300	Minimum 22,500/- Maximum: 34,218/-

Qualifications prescribed for the post will not be relaxed, Experience may be relaxed for exceptionally outstanding candidates. Applicants with good academic record and inadequate experience with PhD or pursuing PhD may be offered the post of Sr, lecturer (scale of pay Rs.10000 - 325-15200/-) on contract upto 2 years (extendable up to 5 years) and will be placed as Assistant Professor on fulfilling the required criteria, Mere fulfillment of prescribed qualifications & experience will not vest any right in the candidates to be called for interview-Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate. Legal disputes with ISMU are restricted to the jurisdiction of Dhanbad only.

Prescribed application forms may be obtained from the office of the Deputy Registrar (Estt), ISM University. Dhanbad-826004 by sending a crossed demand draft of Rs.100/- drawn in favour of Registrar, ISMU, along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs.30/-) envelope of 30cm X 12cm size. SC / ST candidates are exempted from paying any application fee and provision for reservation of SC / ST / PH / OBC will be applicable as per Government of India Rules.

Candidates called for the interview will be reimbursed railway fare limited to Sleeper Class by the shortest route as per rules. Application form may also be downloaded from the institute's website www.ismdhanbad.ac.in and submitted with necessary fees. Applications for Sl.No.1 will be received upto 5 April 2008 and for Sl.No.2&3 throughout the year. Short listing of candidates at Sl.Nos.2&3 for interviews will be done on quarterly basis till the vacancies are filled.
