Applications are invited for the post of Registrar

scale of pay: Rs.16,400-450-20,900-500-22,400/-

Qualifications: Essential:

1. Uniformly good academic record at Master's and Bachelor's level with at least 55% marks at Post-Graduate level.
2. At least 15 years experience in an Academic Institution like University or in an institute of higher learning of which at least 8 years must have been spent in high level administration in University or in an Institute of Post-Graduate study in the capacity of Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post.
3. Age not less than 40 years on 30.09.2008 (relaxable in case of exceptionally qualified candidate).

Desirable:

A doctorate Degree or published research work of merit.

The above qualifications may he relaxed as mentioned hereunder:- In absence of suitable candidate having the required administrative experience, if the candidate has been either a Professor/Principal of a College for at least two (2) years, the essential qualifications pertaining to administrative experience required for such post may be reduced or waived on the recommendations of the Selection Committee.

The post is a whole-time one carrying usual dearness and other allowances and benefits relating to leave, retirement, provident fund etc. as admissible under the rules of the University.

Appointment shall, in the first instance, be made on probation for one year which may be extended for another year at the discretion of the appropriate authority of the University.

During or at the end of the period of probation, the services of the concerned Officer may be terminated with one month's notice or with one month's salary in lieu thereof, without assigning any reason therefor.

On satisfactory completion of the probationary period the concerned incumbent will be considered for being confirmed in service. The choice of the Selecting Authority need not necessarily be confined only to those who formally apply.

Candidate already in employment should apply through proper channel.

Applications (7 copies) in prescribed form obtainable from the University Sales Counter at College Street Campus, Kolkata-700 073 on payment of Rs.300/- (Rs.75/- for SC/ ST/Physically Handicapped candidates on submission of relevant documents) should reach the office of the undersigned not later than 07.11.2008.

Applications in the prescribed proforma may also be downloaded from the University Website: at www.caluniv.ac.in and such applications duly attached with a Bank Demand Draft of Rs.300/- ( Rs.75/- for SC/ ST / Physically Handicapped candidates together with all the required documents) or US $ 20 drawn in favour of the Registrar, University of Calcutta, alongwith the filled-in prescribed form should reach the office: of the undersigned not later than 07.11.2008.
