University of Delhi invites applications for the post of two Research Associates (one each in Chemistry and Physics) in the project titled "Investigations of magnetic, optical and Electrical properties of nanomaterials: Synthesis, characterization and applications" funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

Eligibility and Essential Qualifications for Research Associates Jobs:

Under this scheme, persons possessing Doctorate (PhD/MS) or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after ME/MTech will be eligible for award as RA. The research work is to be supported by at least two publications in internationally refereed journals and proof of conferences attended.

1. Research Associate (Physics): Ph.D in Physics (experimental) or Material Science/M.Tech in material science with at least three years research experience and with first class in M.Sc. (Physics). Research in magnetic materials is preferred.

2. Research Associate (Chemistry): Ph.D in Chemistry (inorganic or physical, Experimental) or Material Science/M.Tech in material science with at least three years research experience and with first class in M.Sc. (Chemistry).

Age Limit for Research Associate Jobs:

The upper age limit for award of Research Associate shall be 35 years. The upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years in the case of applicants belonging to scheduled castes/tribes, women, physically handicapped and OBC candidates.

Tenure: The total tenure of Research Associate is planned to be of maximum 3 years. The progress of Research Associates would be assessed each year by high level discipline wise Assessment Committee.

Fellowship amount:

The consolidated emoluments will be under the following 3 slabs depending on qualification and experience. The selected candidates will be put in one of the grades mentioned below, as decided by the interview committee.

Research Associate - I: Rs. 11,000 per month (revised Rs. 16,000 pm), consolidated.

Research Associate - II: Rs. 11,500 per month (revised Rs. 17,000 pm), consolidated.

Research Associate - III: Rs. 12,000 per month (revised Rs. 18,000 pm), consolidated.

In addition to stipend, the associate will be entitled to HRA, as per rules of the Host Institution, provided he/she has not been given hostel accommodation (stipend paid/payable will be treated as pay for the purpose of HRA).

The following are the general rules governing the fellowship/associateship:

1. Only Indian citizens are eligible for research fellowship/associateship.
2. The award of fellowship/associateship does not imply any assurance or guarantee for subsequent employment by the Institution where he/she is working.
3. If a Fellow/Associate is reported to have been lacking in his or her research assignment, the fellowship/associateship is liable to be terminated by the PI.

Selected candidates must be ready to join the project immediately as the project is already in progress.

Any kind of paid or honorary, part-or-full-time employment or private practice even in honorary capacity is not permissible during the tenure of Fellowship/Associateship.

The stipend of research fellow/associate is exempt from the payment of income tax under 10(16) of IT Act, 1961.
