The UGC has accorded sanction for the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Chair in Contemporary Studies in the University of Madras as proposed by MHRD.

The appointment of Professor to the Chair will be made by invitation on the recommendations of Search Committee with the Vice-Chanceilor as Chairman, three Expert Members and a nominee of the UGC.

Qualification / Experience : An academic of outstanding track record who has made scholarship in the designated areas of studies.

Areas of Studies: Nuclear Disarmament and Peace Studies / Impact of Panchayat Raj Systems and Local Governance / Women's Empowerment.

Age not more than 65 years but not below 50 years on the date of notification.

Term of Appointment: 5 years.

Scale of Pay: Rs.18,400 - 22,400 intending Academics who fulfil the above criteria may send their Curriculum Vitae (8 Copies) neatly word processed in A4 size paper. The envelope containing C.V shall be super scribed "Rajiv Gandhi Chair in Contemporary Studies". So as to reach this office on or before 20th April 2008.
